Abstrart fabric collection and addition of Seedling new colors

Hi friends! Happy spring!

I received my advanced yardage of the Abstrart and Seedling fabric collections in February, as a perfect Valentine's gift, which kept me quite busy. 

Unlike previous collections, "Abstrart" brings a fresh perspective to fabric design with its dynamic and expressive prints that are celebrating the beauty of imperfection and the fluidity of modern design. Its clean lines, minimalistic geometric shapes, striking contrasts and abstract prints offer unparalleled flexibility in cutting and usage, allowing for boundless creativity without the fear of making a wrong cut. This collection incorporates small ditsy scratches, lines, fragments, stylized motifs that are reflecting a modern aesthetic that is both timeless and on-trend. The intertwining of organic fragments suggests a connection to nature, while the intuitive motifs hint at the creative spontaneity behind the collection. 

The color palette is highly restricted and quite neutral, very graphic, while minimalist designs emphasize simplicity and clarity. One colorway is monochromatic, featuring whitish to blackish greys and the other showcases muted, toned-down, mostly warm earthy tones, creating a subtle and understated harmony.

 

Furthermore, Seedling collection embodies the spirit of mixing and matching. It opens the door to a world of endless possibilities, especially when you are looking for a print that reads as a solid, but features a very subtle seed or dot-like design with a texture that mimics woven fabrics.

With my Seedling prints in mind, I created a quilt pattern series called The Chromaflick quilt patterns. They are designed as simple and beginner-friendly, utilizing only basic squares along with a straightforward 3-patch blocks. There are three different quilt  layouts: Chromaflick Dot, Chromaflick Cathedral and Chromaflick Chevron, allowing experimenting with color and color placement, using contrast and harmony as two powerful principles of visual communication.

Capri fabric collection

My Capri fabric collection has finally started to arrive in quilt shops worldwide!

There has been some shipping delays caused by pandemic, so the collection is a bit late, but just in time for spring!

Beautiful forsythia flowers are in full bloom, just like during the same period 2 years ago when I originally painted them. It was the beginning of the pandemic, so I remember that I suddenly had a lot of time to paint, as we were forced to stay at home, during major lockdown.

I started to paint in watercolors, dreaming about the Amalfi coast getaway and Italy vacation, knowing that it will not be that easy to travel and see our Italian family any time soon again. 

So I had to make a print that would represent beautiful and so authentic cities and colorful houses among the Amalfi coast and nearest, Capri island. It was a bit challenging to put it in repeat, but I somehow managed to do it.

I was enchanted with all the phots of the beautiful streets and corners of the Capri island and I am so glad I did a toile version with all these blue inked drawings.

Unfortunately, that print is available only in rayon, but it's a perfect substrate for this lovey print that with added lemons became even more unique.

Of course there are 16 prints in premium quilting cotton, great choices for both quilting and wardrobe making.

I also created this file with matching AGF pure solids, so that it can be convenient for quilt making. 

O course, there are more solids that can be matched with the prints, like pistachio and mint greens, but I tried to narrow down the choices to mainly blues, pinks and yellows.  

I hope that you will enjoy using this collection and that it will instantly take you to this beautiful part of Italy!

Kelim quilt pattern

 Hello there!!!

I can't believe that it's 2022 already. Wow! I think I planned for so long to write my first post in this year and really wanted to strive to blog more often, but 30-something days later, here I am.

I am intensively working on preparing things for the release of the look book of my next (but already available for shops) fabric collection - Capri. I will write more about it in my next post, but before that, I wanted to share a few more pics of my favorite and best selling quilt pattern-Kelim.

I created this quilt pattern for the release of my Twenty look book, but I honestly want to make it with any other fabric collection, because it's so versatile and gives amazing results. Also HSTs are may favorite quilt block units ( beside being also the first quilt block unit I created).

So, here are some pics of the Kelim quilt (quilt pieced and quilted by my friend, Barbara Opett, along with some beautiful details )

And to finish with the mock-up with Capri fabrics, that I am creating at the moment, with real Capri fabrics.

Introducing...Esoterra!!!

Art Gallery fabrics has officially launched all the Fall collections, including my Esoterra collection, coming in October. Esoterra brings to life an extinct luscious land where beautiful and exotic creatures roamed. I tried to capture the archeological essence of this mysterious world with lush foliage and rugged textures enhanced by deep green, dark teals, grays and hints of fuchsia.

My son was always a huge fan of Dinosaurs and even if he's almost 13, he's still enchanted with these marvelous creatures. I wanted to create a gender and age neutral collection that could appeal to all dino lovers. I tried to translate my vision of these gigantic extinct inhabitants and their surrounding using organic shapes, textures and colors, telling a story through variety of prints, giving them luscious and almost exotic look.

Can't wait to show you some wonderful projects with this line coming next....

Preps for the Quilt Market in Minneapolis

I am just about to leave for the Quilt Market that is held in Minneapolis (MN) this Spring. This is my second Quilt Market and I am so anxious about meeting some old friends, but some new as well.

I am having two upcoming fabric collections: Imprint and Wonderland. Here are some strike offs of my Imprint collection, available next month ;)
