Happy dots

I've been having some thoughts and issues with me and my color selection, regarding the textiles....I can not explain why my color choices are so saturated and vivid when it's the field of the textile design, while with my paintings I tend to go almost monochrome...fearing maybe that color may be competitive with forms and shapes....



Anyhow, as I started un-checking the fabric option in my Spoonflower shop, as said before, I arrived to some of my dots designs. The collection is called Lots of dots (and you can still buy them as wallpaper, wall decal or gift wrap....) and the point is the use of color and colors here.



Looking at this (almost forgotten) collection, I realized how weird is that sometimes the answers to our questions may be just in front of us, waiting to be re-discovered. Not sure if I managed to explain myself in English, but I am so grateful that I cleared some things to me ;)







It's great when you find the good balance. Happy balance, happy dots! :)

"Miss June" { Homemaker calendar magazine feature}

Another wonderful feature and very useful too-now I have a gorgeous new Calendar x 2014 featuring 12 Spoonflower designers!!!

I can't be more thrilled, grateful and honoured to who ever picked me and  my design (among a sea of designs and designers) to be in this wonderful calendar, among some very well known textile designers.
As you may see I am Miss June.
Who knows what this June will bring?

Calendar for 2014

Can you believe that there is less than a month time till Christmas and just a 33 days left till the New Year? Well, I have a new Calendar available for 2014 at Spoonflower, made to fit one fat quarter of the linen-canvas fabric-that is great surface for tea towels, bags, home decor etc....I think it would make a great Xmas present either just hemmed like that or to be made as a cushion or bag or.....any other idea?




There is still time left to order and sew something with it;)

Geek chic semifinalist!:)

Yesterday I got some great news from Spoonflower ! From a field of over 750 entries my "Geek Hexies" design made it into the semi-finals of the big Fabric8 Contest organized by Spoonflower and Robert Kaufman Fabrics. Voting has started to pick 8 finalists! You can find more about my inspiration and designs in this previous post. Geek chic

This week we have a great new contest @Spoonflower, and there are many fabulous designs already! I was looking forward doing some more designs with mustaches and glasses, as some of my best sellers @Spoonflower are the designs featuring these geek motifs.

 

For this collection, I have envisioned designs that can be easily used for both genders. Firstly, I wanted to create something with Nikola Tesla in mind, one of the greatest Serbian minds ever. But, than I decided to take the different direction, and I combined hexies, letters, 2D bar codes, glasses, mustaches, maths and similar geek things. I wanted my main design to be some sort of the modern damask with those elements, but now (still haven't entered any design) I am just not sure. I think I'll enter some of the simpler designs, probably hexies. Here are the designs and the entire collection, that will be available for sale soon @Spoonflower.

More plushies!!!

Just like with the dolls, I am all addicted to dolls and plushies and have been really enjoying making them lately. Ice cream set is available for sale on Etsy.

 



As I made quite a few of these lately, this upcoming exhibition will come quite handy to have them all exposed (you are all invited, of course:).
























Another great thing about these SF fabric templates is that (as they are so precious to me), I will use every possible inch of it and so I will actually make some scrappy quilt out of the little leftovers.



Feels really great to have someone helping and thinking about the kitchen and real food while I am making the play food:)

In the sea of {fabric} love

 I decided to organize all my Spoonflower fabric swatches that I collected over these past 3 years, so there's so much cutting, organizing and photographing going on. My fabric design set on Flickr is getting fatter and fatter. My plan is to finally list some of my fabric designs and creations with my fabrics on etsy. Hopefully, I'll arrive there soonish.









And, yes, dreaming about making dresses with my fabric designs. In the mean time, I'll enjoy looking at this beautiful "My wonderland" dress made with my fabrics that can be found on etsy

Dolls mania

If you remember this blog post, then you will know that this new endeavor will hardly end. It's getting bigger and better and I keep designing new doll styles almost every day.







I am so enjoying this pile of dolls, all the little details, all the little mistakes I made during this process, but what I cherish most is that it's totally MY design and my product-from the drawing till the sewn doll and packaging design -the completed product.







Each week, I am eagerly waiting for the postman to arrive and bring me some new doll templates. It's a long way down the road, as it starts here, it's printed in the USA and the final product is made here again. So, the turnaround takes more than a month, but, I am so happy with the results.







The dolls are printed on the great quality, 100% cotton poplin, stuffed with 100% polyester wadding and are sewn with utmost love and care and special attention to a detail. As far the reactions are great, little girls love them, as much as adults.
