Do It Yourself magazine feature

I was so happy when I received the long-awaited copy of the August issue (Fall 2013) of the "Do it yourself magazine", (one of the Better Homes and garden Special Interest publications).



During the month of March I had a pleasure collaborating with one of theirs stylists, working on one of my Doily designs, customizing the colors to fit theirs needs for the magazine shoot. You can see some variations above, and following are the magazine scans.

Woodland doily animals fabric

I've received an early Xmas gift the other day and I was so happy about it!!!
I decided to order a custom printed fabric, based upon my doily woodland animals, to use it for some Xmas gifts and here is the result. It is very simple, made in 2 grey colours and just a basic, half-drop repeat print, just like the one I am using on Twitter for almost 2 years now:)







Unfortunately, due to the many activities, stomach bug, Xmas preps and very close trip to Italy (we are going on Wednesday)I didn't make it with sewing some samples and gifts, but will certainly do it once we are back home:)
I just wish I thought about it earlier.

I am also preparing a free tutorial for the girls New Years leggings and hope to finish it and post it before we leave.

DOILY love

I had a thing for doilies.
For those following my work, it is well known:)
I have blogged about some doily inspiration a few times here and almost all of my work within the home decor field is based on the doily love as an immense source of the inspiration.
Also, being great fan of Tord Boontje's work and Marcel Wanders work, since the students days, I was easily taken with all the doily inspiration and dreams about what can be created using the doily, artistically and aesthetically.



Unfortunately, some dreams, ideas and plans in the pocket, can't be fulfilled so fast and easily, as the time to do things, in my case is very limited and I am giving my best to harmonize my time, being divided with professional and private obligations. And therefore, many ideas and plans are only slowly coming to life and here are a few waiting for so long to be finally realized...all having the doily somehow in common:)

New plexi polka dot stuff

I have finally some new plexi laser cuts to show off!!!This time I used red Plexiglas surface as the base and than had the white polka dots printed (screen print) as a pattern. I have played with two of my previously used animal shapes: deer and rabbit as the silhouettes within the circles.





I already have some of the polka dots ornaments in my etsy shop , but they are made differently, and they are also different in size, and have holes, too. I will try to add the new ones in the shop during this weekend:)
Still unsure how to list them, as they are offering many possibilities and can be used differently, so I will have to think about the best solutions/options.

Fresh and vintage ornaments

New ornaments are added to the shop

I have so much fun creating them and wanted to try to do something with those white solid ones, that are not selling as good as the doily printed ones.



I especially love this cute duo: bambi and deer



And well, all of the papier mache ornaments. I have used the Herman Hesse "Stepenwolf" book from 1973. and those yellow pages gave the great effect.



Also, I'm doing some arrangements to get my doily ornaments be screen printed and laser cut directly in the US, in way to get the customers save on shipping from Europe to US, so if you have a shop in US (either on-line or real shop) and are interested in handling my ornaments, please don't hesitate to contact me at:

Doily

How cool is this doily? I bought it on the market a few weeks ago and I just needed to make some large fabric buttons with it;)



Here are the buttons, freshly listed in the IwannaBE etsy shop



Unfortunately, those beautiful edges couldn't be kept in making the buttons, but I will make pics of some other doily inspired things I made during the weekend, hopefully tomorrow.

Here is one of my doily treasuries on etsy, made in July, I just love doily stuff!!!!
